The GVPTA is pleased to announce a timely new workshop: The HST in Theatres
a “brown bag lunch” seminar with Darren Taylor
THE SEMINAR:
The introduction of the HST on July 1st has specific implications for non-profit organizations, and specific implications for theatre companies. This workshop will provide in introduction to the HST and how it applies to not-for-profits and the theatre sector, a review of typical GST/HST exempt and taxable supplies, an explanation of the transitional rules and how to charge tax on various admissions, members and other revenues before and after July 1st, and details about tax return preparation and reporting.
There will also be information about special issues including fundraising, split donations, galas, and other events, followed by a question and answer session. While the focus will be on theatre-related issues, other arts organizations are welcome to attend. Feel free to bring your lunch!

Darren Taylor is a senior manager with Grant Thornton LLP, a leading Canadian accounting and business advisory firm, providing audit, tax and advisory services to private and public organizations.
COST: $35 (plus GST) for GVPTA members, $50 (plus GST) for non-members.
