State of the Arts: Transplanted Blim gives arts space room to grow
Space to breathe, think and create. That’s what Blim’s founder and director is hoping the art space’s new, expanded digs will bring when it gets transplanted from Mount Pleasant to Chinatown next month.
“You know when your plant has overgrown its pot and the roots are sticking out… I see this as a bigger pot,” said Yuriko Iga, who calls herself Mama Blim. “We’re basically repotting Blim so that the roots can then stretch their legs and grow more organically.”
Blim will move from its 600-square-foot space on 17th Avenue just west of Main, to three levels of 1,600 square feet at 115 East Pender St., May 1.
