Richmond: Arts council denied grant

More than half a million dollars was handed out as part of the city’s annual grants program — but not before one community organization took a swipe for missing out on a tiny share of the cash.

The Community Arts Council had requested $22,297 to help promote and nurture Richmond’s rich crop of artists. But it was given a big fat zero by the city, which claimed there were service duplications with other arts organizations in the city.

It was the second year in a row that the CAC had been denied a grant from the city.
