New museum proposed for Ambleside
A new art museum is being proposed for the District of West Vancouver’s Ambleside area to replace the ageing West Vancouver Museum presently located at 17th Street and Esquimalt Avenue.
The museum’s collection size and attendance volumes are presently outstripping the capacity of the facility, said Cathy Matheson, district manager of cultural affairs and partnerships, during the June 22 council meeting.
The proposed museum would house a gallery for hosting exhibitions, collections, educational programming and a centre for architecture and design.
