Ladysmith: Exhibition connects artists from around the world
Traditional First Nation and Japanese garb lent flavour to Art Jam in Ladysmith last week.
The Pacific Rim Connection, or Art Jam, was held in the Waterfront Gallery in Ladysmith Friday, July 9.
Art Jam is a grass-roots Japanese event with a Canadian connection: the Pacific Rim Connection.
“This is different from a government-initiated tour where artists exhibit or perform for a foreign public,” Robert Amos, assistant to the director of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, said. “It is a grass-roots situation where we come together to live with one another and share our creative energies. Naturally it results in exhibits and performances, but also in home-stays, workshops, social events, collaborative projects and much more.”
