Kelowna: Canadian government lending financial support to local community groups
Some funding help announced Friday for music and the performing arts in Kelowna.
The Canadian government will be matching donations made by individuals, companies and community groups to the Okanagan Symphony Society and the Kelowna Visual and Performing Arts Society.
Executive Director of the Central Okanagan Foundation Leanne Hammond Komori says the government matched 71% of the funding for this year.
“That’s just for this year. The $13,000 is the combination between the $7800 for the Okanagan Symphony and basically $5400 for the KV Pax Rotary Centre for the Arts.”
Hammond Komori says the endowment funds will provide annual support today, tomorrow and forever.
