Kamloops: Arts, sports a winner
For the past four years, South Kamloops secondary art teachers throw a challenge out to their students.
And every year, the budding artists rise to the challenge, creating works that will be shown, judged and eventually whittled down to the top dozen that grace a calendar sold to augment the art department’s funds.
The assignment for this school year was one that reflects the drive to succeed and be judged that the students also experience — the theme was athletics in Kamloops and the works created reflect various viewpoints of that determination to win.
Visions of Sport became not only a calendar, but will be on display at city hall on Friday as the local government hub invites the city down to celebrate the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.
