Cranbrook: New art gallery officially opened
The Fisher Peak Art Gallery officially opened its doors last Thursday with a ribbon cutting performed by Cranbrook acting mayor Liz Schatschneider and Kootenay East MLA Bill Bennett.
“This will add value to our community. We sometimes forget how important arts and culture is to society and to our community; it’s a way for us to understand ourselves,” said Bennett. “I hope to be a regular visitor and I know my wife Beth will be for sure.”
The gallery is located at 821b 1st Street South in Cranbrook and features a variety of artwork, metal work, glasswork, pottery, sculptures and more. The gallery will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm each day.
“It’s a delight to open up our doors for the professional and emerging artists from the Kootenays,” said Nicole Leblond, who is the gallery’s curator and manager. “We at Fisher Peak Art Gallery want to create a legacy by supporting the art and the community. We have to date 42 artists and they are all from the Kootenays.”
