Communities go all out for the arts
North Okanagan residents have a few opportunities to steep themselves in arts and culture during B.C. Arts and Culture Week, April 19 to 25.
Each year the B.C. government provides up to $14 million to support the development of arts and culture in this province, and each year thousands of artists, educators and community members organize or participate in a celebratory event during this special week.
The Vernon Community Arts Centre, run by the Arts Council of the North Okanagan, has already started its activities with the juried exhibition, The Mad Potter’s Tea Party, which can currently be viewed in the centre located beside the Okanagan Science Centre at Polson Park.
