Arts Sector Receives $3.4 Million from BC Arts Council

Artists and arts organizations in communities across British Columbia are receiving more than $3.4 million in BC Arts Council grants, Tourism, Culture and the Arts Minister Kevin Krueger announced today.

“The arts are an important social and economic force in communities across the province,” said Krueger. “These grants provide operating support for B.C. arts organizations and councils, as well as funding for arts festivals and the creation of new work by individual artists.”

The council will award 298 grants to individual artists and arts and cultural organizations representing a range of disciplines including music, visual arts, literature, theatre and dance.

“The council’s mission is to engage all British Columbians in a healthy arts and cultural community that is recognized for its excellence,” said council chair Jane Danzo. “This funding helps us meet our goals while enriching artistic practice in communities across B.C.”
